The Ladies Go to Paris
I have to give my sisters and nieces a great deal of credit. They are very good travelers. On the day they arrived they fought through the jet lag, hiked around Heidelberg, and stayed up until 11 pm after arriving in Strasbourg. Then, on the very next day, they dragged out of bed at around 6:30 am to catch the train to Paris. No whining, no complaints...nothing.
Before the trip, Theresa asked Jennifer what they wanted to see in France. She responded, "Oh, you know, the big three...the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Versailles".
Despite the fact that France is a small country (compared to U.S.), it is not so small that you can easily get to Paris from Strasbourg. (Actually, I think the Strasbourgeois prefer it this way.) The travel time is about 4.5 hours by either train or car. Not exactly convenient for a day trip. So, Theresa booked train tickets and a hotel and the ladies set out to Paris for a three-day tour.
So, the intro picture is of the gang in the Louvre. If you've seen the movie The Da Vinci Code, then you may recognize this spot from the ending of the film. The picture below needs no explanation.
The following pictures show some of the detail on the Arc de Triomphe and the Paris Traffic leading up to it.
As a side note, imagine this street filled with people. This is the way it was in early July after the French victories in the late stages of the World Cup.
