Hooters

Thank heaven for reminders of home.

Jake has been bugging us to find a Hooters restaurant in Europe somewhere. You see, he works at Hooters in Greenwood, Indiana....and he wants a shirt from a more exotic location.

So, Theresa went out searching the internet and found that there are several of the restaurants in Europe. Of those, the closest to us is in Neunkirchen, Germany....just across the French border near the German town of Saarbrucken.

Location is everything. Strange coincidence that the Hooters in Neunkirchen is located just about 30 minutes down the road from the town of Kaiserslautern and the Ramstein Airbase that is staffed by some 50,000 U.S. servicemen. (Note...I consider "servicemen" to be a gender neutral word. It accounts for both the female and male types.)

On Sunday, October 29, Theresa and Cindy Eaton and I took a drive up to Neunkirchen to check out the Hooters...ergh...to check out the restaurant. It could have been in the U.S.A. The restaurant was the same. Most of the clients were English speaking servicemen. The waitresses spoke English. The menu (at least the English version) was the same. And the layout of the kitchen was the same. And of course, the wings are the same. Cause everyone goes to Hooters for the wings. Here's to you Jake, wherever you are tonight. There is a Hooters, Neunkirchen T-Shirt waiting for you.
